Arkitekten Poul Friis Henriksen forelsker sig i norske Gerd. Desværre er hun allerede forlovet med lægen Arne Lorentzen, hvis tidligere kone døde af en overdosis under mystiske omstændigheder. Gerd inviterer Poul til en fest i hjemmet, hvor han ved et tilfælde ser hende tage en sprøjte i hemmelighed. Det får Poul til at mistænke Arne for at være alt andet end den perfekte ægtemand. Han sætter sig derfor for at undersøge sagen nærmere.
