伴随着轻快悦耳的小曲，我们看到大力水手卜派（杰克·梅瑟 Jack Mercer 配音）拎着一只鸟笼子走在小镇的街道上。笼子里是一只训练有素的鹦鹉，是卜派送给女友奥莉弗（梅伊·奎斯托尔 Mae Questel 配音）的礼物。原来这个看似粗线条的水手也有细心的一面，他考虑到自己经常出海，为了避免女友寂寞而特别训练了这只讨人喜欢的小鹦鹉。果不其然，鹦鹉巧舌如簧，伶牙俐齿，深得奥莉弗的欢心。就在此时，布鲁托（加斯·维基 Gus Wickie 配音）刚好来到奥莉弗的门外。他听到鹦鹉的声音，心中涌起腾腾嫉妒和杀意。布鲁托磨刀霍霍，小鹦鹉绝路逃亡，奥莉弗则昏倒在地。
